Muskingum (6-9, 1-7) was led by Kyle Clinedinst who scored 15 of
his game-high 23 points in the second half.
Junior Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) was one of six
players in double figures with 17 points for a Mount Union squad
that falls to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the OAC.
Senior LaRon Marshall (Cleveland/Collinwood) had a career high 15
points, freshman Matt Kiger (Williamstown, WV/Williamstown) had 12
points off the bench, while Matt Weir (New Castle, PA/Mohawk), Ben Hodkinson (Tippecanoe/Harrison Central), and Jimmy Wood
(Wintersville/Indian Creek) rounded out the double figure scorers
for Raiders with 11, 11, and 10 points respectively.
Mount Union jumped out to a 14 point lead to start the game as a
Pellerite three-pointer with 7:23 left in the half gave them a
36-22 lead. Muskingum would outscore the Raiders 16-7 the
rest of the period to close that margin down to five points going
into halftime down 43-38.
The Muskies would continue to rally in the second half as they tied
the game at 56 and at 58 before taking the lead with 8:54 to play
on a free throw by Seth Howard.
Muskingum would keep the Raiders at arm's length the rest of the
way going on to the six-point victory.
Mount Union hosts Capital in an OAC doubleheader on Saturday as the
women start things off at 2 pm followed by the men's game at
approximately 4:30 pm.
