#23 Women's Basketball Holds on For Win at Heidelberg, 48-46

Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) scored 13 points to lead the Purple Raiders, who Union survived a season-low 48 points and 24.5 percent shooting, including 4-of-25 in the second half, to move to 15-2 overall and stay a game out of first place in the OAC at 8-2.

Heidelberg got a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds from Stacey Richard as the Berg erased a 13 point deficit in the game's final 10 minutes before falling to 4-13 overall and 3-7 in the OAC.

Mount Union held a seven point lead on three different occasions in the first half including, 26-19 after a Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) three-pointer with 2:45 left in the half and the Raiders would take a 26-20 lead into the break.

That lead would stretch to as many as 13 points, 40-27, after a pair of Amanda Rose (Uniontown/Green) free throws with 10:36 remaining.  Heidelberg would come all the way back to tie the game at 46 on a jumper by Jenny Miller with 2:05 left.  Pohovey would then score what turned out to be the final two points of the game as both teams missed their final three shots of the game.

Mount Union returns home to take on Marietta Wednesday at 7:30 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.  The game will be broadcast on the radio on AM 1310 WDPN.
