Men's Basketball Frozen By Cardinals in Loss

Mount Union (5-9 overall, 3-4 OAC) went without a field goal over a span that covered 13:25 between the end of the first half and start of the second half.  Wes Knavel (Zanesville/West Muskingum) hit a layup to bring the Purple Raiders within seven, 23-16 with 7:29 left in the half.  Mount Union would not get another field goal in the period as Otterbein led 35-23 at the break and the drought continued for the first 5:56 of the second half before Matt Kiger (Williamstown, WV/Williamstown) hit a layup to make the score, 46-25 in favor of the Cardinals.   Mount Union closed the gap to 15 points at the 63-48 final.

 

Brian Pollock had 13 first half points on his way to a game-high 29 points to lead three players in double figures for Otterbein (4-10, 2-5 OAC).

 

Jimmy Wood (Wintersville/Indian Creek) had 10 points to lead Mount Union.

 

Mount Union returns home to host Muskingum in an OAC matchup next Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
