ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Roni Schroeder (Shelby/Shelby) smashed 20 kills and Monica Hupertz (Willoughby Hills/Beaumont) contributed 16 to lead the Mount Union volleyball team in its 3-2 comeback victory over Ohio Athletic Conference opponent John Carroll. The Purple Raiders won the final two sets en route to the 24-26, 25-13, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9 decision on Tuesday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

In the fifth and deciding set, the Purple Raiders scored the match's final four points.

Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) made 49 assists for Mount Union and Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) served for three aces.

Defensively, Sarah Dean (Strongsville/Walsh Jesuit) came through with 37 digs while Schroeder made four block assists.

For John Carroll (14-10, 2-2), Kerry Fox and Teresa Noewer had 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while Meredith McDiarmid made 35 assists.

The Raiders (16-6, 3-1) will return to action when they visit another OAC foe - Heidelberg -- on Friday night for a 7 p.m. match.
