ALLIANCE, Ohio--No. 5 seed John Carroll twice rallied from deficits to tie the match at 3-3 then advanced in a shootout, 5-4 to upset No. 4 seed Mount Union in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Tuesday at Mount Union Stadium.

Senior Andrew Fatigati hit the decisive shot in the shootout as John Carroll (11-8-1) advances to play No. 1 seed Heidelberg Thursday at 7 pm in Tiffin, Ohio.

Mount Union (10-6-3), in the tournament for the first time since 2003 and hosting a game for just the third time in school history, was led by freshman Thomas Beck (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) who scored all three of the Raiders goals.

His first score was a header off a free kick from sophomore Leo Hicks (Leetonia/Cardinal Mooney) in the 27th minute and the Raiders took that lead into the half.

Beck then made it 2-0 as he put a penalty kick past Blue Streak keeper Carl Contrascier in the 51st minute.

Just 2:21 later, Kyle Buxman got John Carroll on the board as he kicked in a rebound, then Buxman assisted Kevin McKamish's game tying goal in the 71st minute.

Beck then gave Mount Union a 3-2 advantage as he took a though ball from Hicks and put it in from 15 yards out.

McKamish then sent one just over the hands to the far post of Raider keeper Jon Critell (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) in the 87th minute to tie the contest.

After a pair of overtime periods, John Carroll then edged out Mount Union in penalty kicks.

John Carroll held a 26-20 lead in shots and 8-6 edge in corner kicks as Contrascier had six saves, while Critell had five saves for Mount Union.

The other OAC quarterfinal was also an upset on Tuesday as No. 6 seed Baldwin-Wallace defeated No. 3 seed Capital, 3-2.  The Jackets play Thursday at 2 pm at No. 2 seed Ohio Northern in the other semifinal.
