Men's Basketball Rallies From 21 Down To Beat Baldwin-Wallace; Pellerite Has 20 and Goes Over 1,000 Points

With the win, the Purple Raiders improve to 10-12 overall and 8-7 in the OAC. With their loss, the Yellow Jackets drop to 12-10 overall and 7-8 in the OAC.

Pellerite also became the 25th player in school history to go over 1,000 career points when the junior forward hit a layup and converted a three point play with a free throw with 1:32 left in the second half that brought the Raiders to within two points at 63-61.  Mount Union, which had trailed 33-19 at halftime, was down 53-32 with 11:33 left in the second half.

After a B-W missed free throw Pellerite would hit a layup with to tie the game at 63-63 and send it to the first overtime.

A pair of Ben Hodkinson (Tippecanoe/Harrison Central) free throws with 21 seconds left in the first overtime gave Mount Union a 72-69 lead, but Kyle Brown nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 72 and move the game to a second overtime.

Brown hit a pair of jumpers to start the second overtime and give the Jackets a 78-74 lead with 3:37 to play in the period, but the Raiders would then outscore B-W 10-4 the rest of the way with Pellerite scoring six of those points to put the game away.

Pellerite was one of five Raiders in double figures as Wes Knavel (Zanesville/West Muskingum) had 15 off the bench, Hodkinson and King each tallied 13 and Jimmy Wood (Wintersville/Indian Creek) had 12 points.

Brown finished with a game-high 25 to lead four players in double figures for Baldwin-Wallace.

Mount Union stays home to face Otterbein in an OAC matchup Saturday at 3 pm at the MAAC in Alliance.  An alumni game is slated for 1 pm and prior to tip-off the seniors on the this year's team, King and LaRon Marshall (Cleveland/Collinwood) will be honored.
