LaMattina Has Career-High 27 as #25 Women's Basketball Knocks Off First Place Baldwin-Wallace 81-78 in Berea

The win vaults the Purple Raiders to 19-3 overall and at 12-3 in the OAC leaves them tied with Baldwin-Wallace (16-6, 12-3 OAC) in second place just behind first place Capital (12-2 OAC), who plays Heidelberg Thursday evening.

Lauren Forquer (North Canton/Green) was the only other Mount Union player in double figures with 13 points.

Amanda Schroeder had 27 points to lead four players in double figures for Baldwin-Wallace.

LaMattina hit all six of her first half shots and had 18 points as the Raiders scorched the nets hitting 19 of their 26 shots (73.1-percent) in the period to score a season-best 51 points and lead 51-41.

Baldwin-Wallace would charge back in the second half but never take the lead and each time it was LaMattina that answered for Mount Union.  The Jackets got within one, 68-67 with 6:33 left when LaMattina hit a layup and the Raiders scored six out of the next seven points to stretch lead back out.  A Schroeder three pointer with 16 seconds left got B-W within a point again, 79-78, but LaMattina would put the game away with a pair of free throws for the 81-78 final.

Mount Union stays on the road traveling to Otterbein for a game Saturday at 3 pm.
