Freshman Matt Kiger (Williamstown, WV/Williamstown) led the team
in scoring with 13 points off the bench and Ben Hodkinson
(Tippeconoe/Harrison Central) had 10 points for a Purple Raider
squad that sinks to 11-13 overall and 9-8 in the OAC.
Nick Hershberger had 17 points to lead Muskingum in the win which
leaves them at 8-16 overall and 3-14 in the OAC.
The Muskies jumped out to an early 10-4 lead on a three pointer by
Cory Bourquin.
After falling behind with the score 27-15, the Raiders put together
a 9-2 run on a pair of Kiger free throws leaving the score at 29-24
heading into halftime.
Missed shots would be the theme for Mount Union in the second half
as they were outscored 37-24 while posting a 25.8% field goal
percentage and allowed Muskingum to cruise to the 66-48 final.
The Purple Raiders will be on the road to take on OAC rival Capital
this Saturday at 2 pm in Columbus. A win against Capital can
lock up the No. 4 seed in the OAC tournament for the Raiders.
