Wes Knavel (Zanesville/West Muskingum) also came off the bench
and had 12 points for a Mount Union squad that has now won three of
its last four games to stand at 9-12 overall and 7-7 in the
OAC.
Kyle Meyer nailed 10-of-13 shots to lead four players in double
figures for Ohio Northern (11-10, 9-5 OAC).
Ohio Northern led 19-9 in the game's first 10 minutes then
stretched that lead to 29-19 with 6:19 left in half. Mount
Union then out paced the Polar Bears, 15-8 to close to within
three, 37-34 at the half.
The Raiders then scored six of the first eight points in the second
half to take a 40-39 lead with 15:35 remaining. There
were then seven lead changes over the next eight minutes before
Mount Union scored seven straight points capped by a Pellerite
layup to take a 58-52 lead with four minutes to go.
Ohio Northern would rally to tie the game but Mount Union converted
7-of-8 free throws over the final 32 seconds to put the game
away.
Mount Union hosts Baldwin-Wallace in an OAC matchup Wednesday at
7:30 pm at The MAAC in Alliance.
