Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's soccer's six-game unbeaten
streak -- and four-game winning streak -- came to an end on
Wednesday due to a 2-1 loss to Grove City (Pa.)
Grove City's Josh Kern tallied the game-winner during the 72nd
minute. Teammate Evan Moore blasted a shot which was saved by
Raider goalkeeper Jon Critell
(Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney), but Kern finished the rebound.
The Purple Raiders took the game's first lead on an early goal
by Jared
Thacker (Sunbury/Big Walnut) in the third minute. Thacker
received an assist from Kevin
Cindric.
Jake Kern tied the game for Grove City in the 49th minute by
creating his own breakaway down the right side before younger
brother Josh put the Wolverines ahead for good.
Critell made three saves in net for the hosts while Chris Burgan
stopped two shots for the Wolverines (4-1-2).
The Purple Raiders (5-3-1) will return to action on Saturday
with a 1 p.m. match against Wilmington. The contest will be an Ohio
Athletic Conference opener for both squads.
