Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Mount Union volleyball team dropped a
pair of tough battles at the season-opening Midwest Classic -- the
first to No. 4 Hope, 3-2, and the second to Thiel, 3-1, on Friday
at Calvin.
The Purple Raiders (0-2) fought back from a 2-1 deficit, but
ultimately lost, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 15-11.
Deanna
Glass (Medina/Medina) led the attack, finishing with 16 kills,
16 digs, seven aces and four solo blocks. Julie Radigan
(Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) 52 assists and Sarah Dean
(Strongsville/Walsh Jesuit) added 31 digs.
The Tomcats won the nightcap, 28-26, 25-23, 9-25, 25-14. In that
match, Radigan had 42 assists and Dean made 32 digs.
Mount Union will be back in action on Saturday with two matches
at Hope. Opponents will be Cornerstone (10 a.m.) and ninth-ranked
Calvin (noon).
