Box Score BEREA, Ohio—Mount Union's men's soccer team fell at #20 Baldwin-Wallace, 2-1, Wednesday night. A win would have afforded the Purple Raiders (7-6-2, 2-2-2) some breathing room as they seek a second consecutive berth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.
Ben Deighton scored in the 72nd minute to give the Yellow Jackets, ranked fourth in the region, the victory.
Chris Motley (Kent/St. Vincent-St. Mary) discarded a pair of defenders before scoring just before halftime for the Raiders to even the match at 1-1.
Baldwin-Wallace struck first when the OAC's leading scorer, Carlin Vandendrirssche, scored on a pass from Noah Eubanks at the 32:08 mark.
Jon Critell (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) made five saves in goal for the Purple Raiders. Ryan Hulings turned away eight shots for Baldwin-Wallace (14-2, 5-1).
Mount Union will return to action on Saturday as they host Capital at noon. The team's nine senior players will be recognized prior to the game.
