Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio -- No. 5 seed Mount Union knocked off No. 4 seed Wilmington in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Monday night in Wilmington.
In their seventh OAC Tournament appearance, the Purple Raiders (10-7-2) won their first-ever match (1-4-2) and advance to the semifinals to take on top-seed and regular season champion Ohio Northern Wednesday at 2 pm in Ada.
Sophomore Thomas Beck (Poland/Cardinal Mooney) scored the lone goal of the match as he hit in a header into the goal off a cross from freshman Chris Motley (Kent/St. Vincent-St. Mary) in the 54th minute.
The Mount Union defense was strong as it allowed only one shot on goal for the evening and junior goalkeeper Jon Critell (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) posted his eighth shutout of the season.
