ALLIANCE, Ohio -- #13 ranked Mount Union scored 58 first half points on its way to a 92-44 rout of Allegheny (Pa.) Friday in the opening game of the M Club Shootout at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
Mount Union (4-0), which had 16 different players get into the scoring column, will play Manchester (Ind.), a 62-58 winner over Waynesburg (Pa.), in the tournament title game Saturday at 5 pm.
The Purple Raiders opened the game on a 33-9 run and really never looked back as the lead was extended to 31 points, 58-27 at the break.
Junior point guard Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) scored 15 of her game-high 17 points in the first half for Mount Union.
Fellow junior guard Tierney Allen (Alliance/Alliance) had 13 points and freshman Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) came off the bench with 10 points as the other double digit scorers for the Raiders.
Mount Union forced 29 turnovers and held a 44-34 edge on the boards.
Allegheny (3-2) got 12 points and 9 rebounds from Heidi Goeller as the Gators will play Waynesburg in Saturday's 3 pm consolation game.
