Box Score BEREA, Ohio -- Mount Union got a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds from senior Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) but it was not enough as the Purple Raiders fell 80-69 at Baldwin-Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday in Berea.
The loss leaves Mount Union at 9-15 overall and at 7-10 in the OAC in seventh place in the conference standings. Regardless of the result of Saturday's regular season finale against Heidelberg Saturday at 4 pm at The MAAC in Alliance, Mount Union is locked into the No. 7 seed for next week's OAC Tourney and will play Tuesday Feb. 22 at 7:30 pm at No. 2 seed John Carroll.
Baldwin-Wallace, which got 20 points from Chris Ameen and 19 points from Kevin Krakowiak, moved to 9-15 overall and 5-12 in the OAC, but wins by John Carroll and Capital Wednesday eliminated the Yellow Jackets from OAC Tourmament contention.
A Ben Hodkinson (Tippecanoe/Harrison Central) gave Mount Union a 28-20 lead with 8:40 to play in the first half, but B-W finished the period on an 18-7 run to take a 38-35 lead into the lockers.
With the score tied at 43-43 early in the second half, Baldwin-Wallace scored seven straight points and never trailed again. the Jackets extended the lead to 15 points before the 80-69 final.
