Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio -- With the score tied at 37 early in the second half, No. 18 ranked Marietta went on a 23-7 run to take control and go on to an 81-66 victory over Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night in Marietta.
Marietta got a game-high 24 points from Trevor Halter, moves to 20-2 overall to tie its school-record for wins in a season and remains in first place in the OAC with a 13-2 record.
Three Purple Raiders hit for double digits as Jimmy Wood (Wintersville/Indian Creek) had 21 points, Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 11 while Matt Kiger (Williamstown, W.Va./Williamstown) had 15 in his second straight start.
Mount Union (9-13, 7-8 OAC) rallied from an 11-point deficit midway through the first half to take a 28-27 lead on a Kiger layup with 4:18 left in the period.
There were then five lead changes before a Wood three-pointer at 1:21 allowed the Raiders to retake the lead 35-33.
Marietta scored the final four points of the half to lead 37-35 at the break.
Kiger tied the game on the Raiders first possesion of the second half before the Pioneers went on their decisive run.
Mount Union stays on the road to play Saturday at 4 pm at Ohio Northern.
