WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Mount Union's men's tennis team swept Washington and Jefferson, 9-0, in non-conference action on Thursday.
The Purple Raiders (3-6) earned their victory in dominating fashion, dropping only two points to the Presidents.
Zach Perry (Hudson/Hudson) defeated David Dubois at first singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Nate Fockler (North Canton/North Canton Hoover) won the No. 2 singles match over Jon Piccinini, 6-1, 6-0.
Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg) added a win at third singles against Adam Braithwaite, 6-0, 6-0; Yasuhiro Anno (Fukucka, Japan/Kyushu Kokusai Daigaku Fuzoku) won the No. 4 match over Christopher Fadil, 6-0, 6-0; Drew LeGendre (Toledo/Bowsher) defeated Justin Mondok, 6-0, 6-0, at fifth singles; and Jeff Looker (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) bested Nick Morelli, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Anno and Perry defeated Fadil and Piccinini, 8-0, in the first tier match.
At No. 2 pairs, Fockler and Yackmack were victorious over Dubois and Mondok, 8-0, while LeGendre and Marcus Suffolk (Canfield/Canfield) won the third doubles match against Braithwaite and Nick Morelli, 8-0.
Mount Union will return to action on Saturday, March 26, when it opens Ohio Athletic Conference play at Heidelberg at 1 p.m.
