COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's tennis team claimed a 7-2 decision over Capital in Ohio Athletic conference action on Friday.
After falling behind, 2-1, through doubles play, the Purple Raiders swept singles competition.
Mount Union's Zach Perry (Hudson/Hudson) and Yasuhiro Anno (Fukucka, Japan/Kyushu Kokusai Daigaku Fuzoku) won their respective singles matches and teamed for a pairs win.
Perry defeated Casey Filas, 6-3, 6-3, at first singles while Anno got past Chris Morris, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 singles.
Perry and Anno won the No. 1 doubles match against Filas and Tommy Stein, 8-2.
Other Purple Raider singles winners were Nate Fockler (North Canton/North Canton Hoover), Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg), Drew LeGendre (Toledo/Bowsher) and Jeff Looker (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls).
Fockler bested John Murray, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6, at second singles and Yackmack handled Stein, 7-6, 6-2, in the No. 3 match.
LeGendre earned his victory in the fifth singles match versus Mark Williams, 7-6, 6-2, while Looker defeated Doug Gugel-Bryant, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
Mount Union will wrap up its regular season next Saturday with a 1 p.m. home match against OAC foe Ohio Northern.
