Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio—Kevin Kowalewski (Warsaw/River View) scored in the 89th minute to give the Mount Union men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Wilmington. The Purple Raiders (6-4) snapped to their two-game losing streak to begin Ohio Athletic Conference play 1-0.
With the match in a scoreless tie, the Purple Raiders seemed to be headed to their first overtime game of the season. At the 88:41 mark, Kevin Cindric (Willowick/Eastlake North) sent a cross into the box to Kowalewski, who beat the goalie for his first goal of the season.
Jon Critell (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) made six saves for Mount Union to record his fourth shutout of the season.
Wilmington goalkeeper Antonio Trujillo recorded four saves for the Quakers.
Mount Union returns to action next Saturday for a showdown with Ohio Northern, ranked 13th in the nation by D3Soccer.com.
