Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union volleyball team easily defeated Wilmington in their first OAC match of the season to complete their unbeaten weekend. They have now won six straight matches to improve to 14-4 on the season.
The Purple Raiders showed no fatigue coming off a victory over Defiance in Pittsburgh earlier in the day and defeated the Quakers in straight sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-8). After winning the first set, Mount Union trailed 10-6 in the second set before rallying to win 14 of the next 15 points to gain control of the set. This momentum carried into the final set, in which they took a 12-1 lead.
Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) led the Purple Raiders with 17 kills on just 27 attacks. Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) had 10 kills and Melanie Patterson (Mentor/Lake Catholic) added six kills. Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 38 assists. Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) led Mount Union in digs with six.
Mount Union returns to action Tuesday when they play host to Marietta in an OAC match.
