ALLIANCE, Ohio—The No. 9-ranked Mount Union women's basketball team extended its home win streak to 19 games with an 82-54 victory over John Carroll Wednesday night at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Junior Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) led a quintet of Purple Raiders in double-figures with a game-high 18 points. Senior Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/ North Olmsted) scored 14 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Freshman Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) came off the bench to score 12 points while Erin Schmidt (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and Amanda Rose (Green/Green) added 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

The Purple Raiders (17-1, 10-1) scored the first five points of the game before John Carroll cut the deficit to 7-6 with 14:56 remaining in the first half. The Raiders responded with a 13-4 run to take a 20-10 lead. A 14-2 run late in the first half gave the Raiders a 19-point lead, but John Carroll was able to trim the deficit to 15 and trailed 43-28 at the intermission.

After forcing 15 first-half turnovers, Mount Union continued its pressure defense, sparking a 27-7 run in the opening eight minutes of the second half to take a commanding 60-35 lead. The Raiders led by as much as 33 and forced 24 turnovers by the Blue Streaks, who had just eight assists.

Mount Union will play on the road at third-place Capital Saturday at 3 pm.
