Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The 18th-ranked Mount Union volleyball team beat Geneva (Pa.) on Tuesday night to extend its winning streak to seven games.
The Purple Raiders took the match in four sets (25-11, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20).
Leading the way for Mount Union in the kills category were OAC Player of the Week Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) and Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) who recorded 14 and 15 kills, respectively.
Senior Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless), who eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark last weekend, had 20 digs for the Raiders, while Snyder picked up 19 Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) followed with 16.
Sophomores Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) and Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) led the Raiders in the assist category. Woodard tallied 30 assists and Schleich finished with 17.
Mount Union's seventh straight victory pushed its overall record to 10-3 while Geneva fell to 11-2.
The Raiders now head to Chicago, Ill., for the Gargoyle Classic, set to begin on Friday night (Sept. 21). Mount Union will take on two ranked teams, no. 11 Chicago and no. 21 Carthage (Wis.), on Friday night. The Raiders finish play in Chicago on Saturday (Sept. 22) against Scranton (Pa.) and Defiance. The University of Chicago will post all results from the Gargoyle Classic on its tournament website.
