Moore Scores Career-High As Men's Basketball Gets Road Win

TIFFIN, Ohio - - Freshman Taylor Moore (North Canton/Hoover) scored a career-high 20 points as Mount Union's men's basketball team defeated Heidelberg 89-75 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon. 

With the win, Mount Union has now won two straight games and improves to 7-10 overall and 5-5 in the OAC, while Heidelberg falls to 9-8 overall and 4-6 in the conference. 

Sophomore Nate Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) and freshman Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) each scored 16 points and sophomore Stevie Griffin (Canton/Massillon Jackson) added 14 to round out the double-digit scorers for the Raiders. 

Nate Davis scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Student Princes. 

Davis scored the game's first points, as he hit a jumper 19 seconds into the game to give the Student Princes a 2-0 lead. 

Ishaam Smith Jr hit a three-pointer with 18:19 left in the first half to give the Princes their largest lead of the game four points at 7-3. 

Jacubec hit two free-throws for the Raiders, to tie the game at seven with 16:53 to go in the opening period. 

Ruffin slammed home a dunk with 30 seconds to go in the first half as he would give the Raiders their largest lead of opening period 13 points and the Raiders would take a 41-28 lead with them into the break. 

The Raiders would open the second half on a 9-0 run which was capped by Moore hitting 1-of-2 free-throws with 17:25 to go in the game which gave the Raiders their largest lead in the game 21 points at 51-30. 

The Student Princes would cut the Raiders lead to seven points with 8:01 remaining in the game, as Quintin Aden Jr hit a three-pointer to make the score 66-59

Dillon hit two free-throws with three seconds remaining in the game as the Raiders would take the victory 89-75. 

Mount Union's next game will be Wednesday when they host John Carroll at 7:30 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Center.
