ALLIANCE, Ohio – No. 20 Mount Union won over Capital, 58-45 in an Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday January 26th at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Mount Union has now won six games in a row and moves to 16-3 overall, 10-2 in the OAC, while Capital falls to 13-6 overall and 8-4 in the OAC.

Sophomore Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) led the way for the Purple Raiders with team-high 14 points while senior Marybeth Leitch (Rocky River/Rocky River) cleaned up the glass with a game-high eight rebounds.

Capital had three score in double-digits, junior Jamie Caton with 14, junior Cookie Geroski with 12 and senior Stacy Timmerman with 11 points.

The Crusaders led early 6-2 and Mount Union rallied to eventually tie the game at 12. The Purple Raiders went on an 11-2 run to take control of the game and lead 23-14.  Capital then rallied to score nine of the final 13 points of the half and the Raiders led 27-23 at the break.

Mount Union put the game away with a strong start to the second half outscoring Capital, 25-8 in the first 10 minutes of the period and went on to the 13-point victory.

Mount Union next goes on the road to Baldwin Wallace Wednesday, January 30th at 7:30 pm in Berea, Ohio.
