BEREA, Ohio – No. 15 Mount Union lost to Baldwin Wallace, 74-71 in an Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday, January 30th at the Ursrung Gymnasium.

With this loss the Purple Raiders fall to 16-4 overall and 10-3 in the OAC while Baldwin Wallace improves to 11-9 overall and 6-7 in the OAC.

Sophomore Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) led the way for the Raiders with the games only double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Raiders scored in double-digits, the senior duo of Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) and Tierney Allen (Alliance/Alliance) each scored 19 and 10 points respectively while freshman Annie Bova (Parma Heigths/Beaumont) scored 12 points in the loss.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Audrey Smolik who scored game-high 20 points with junior Jessica Lairson chipped in with 16 points. Freshman Alissa Munro scored 10 to round out the double-digit scorers.

The lead changed hands two times and the score was tied twice in the early going of the game. The Jackets led early 8-3 and Mount Union rallied to eventually tie the game at 17. Baldwin Wallace went on a 21-12 run to end the half, going into the break with a nine point lead 38-29.

The Yellow Jackets would never look back as they built their lead to 16 points, 50-34 before Mount Union would answer with a 34-18 run to tie the game at 68 with one minute to go. Four free-throws for the Jackets would help keep the Raiders away. LaMattina would miss a three-pointer at the end of the game to try to send the game to overtime. Baldwin Wallace would go on for the 74-71 victory.

Mount Union next goes on the road Saturday, February 2nd to face Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in Westerville, Ohio at 3 pm.
