Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union freshmen Zachary Tanzillo (Norwalk/Norwalk) and Quinn Malone (Chardon/Chagrin) would each notch their first collegiate goal in the 3-2 victory against Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's soccer matchup on Wednesday.
The Purple Raiders improve to 9-7-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the OAC, while the Fighting Muskies fall to 5-10-1 and 0-5-1.
Tanzillo would net the ball off a pass from teammate freshman Matt Furgiuele (Alliance/ St. Thomas Aquinas) in the 11th minute. The Fighting Muskies John Barr would tie the game at one with a goal in the 13th minute.
Jack Weber (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) would score for Mount Union in the 33rd minute before Malone scored in the 41st minute, giving the Raiders the 3-1 lead at the half.
The Muskies would come within one as Austin Mills would score in the 54th minute of the second half, but Mount Union was able to hold on for the 3-2 victory.
The Raiders defense and goalkeeper freshman Dylan Lias (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) held the Muskies to only four shots on goal.
Mount Union goes back on the road Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. as they take on Otterbein for an OAC match in Westerville.
