Men's Basketball Falls at Bethany (W.Va.) Tuesday

BETHANY, W.Va. – Mount Union's men's basketball team lost to Bethany (W.Va.) 79-61 Tuesday, November 19 at the Hummel Field House in Bethany, W.Va.

The Purple Raiders fall to 1-1 as the Bison improve to 2-0 on the season. 

The Bison controlled the first half of the game as they came out on a 9-2 run within the first five minutes of play. Mount Union bounced back and went on a 7-4 run to cut the lead to 13-9 with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Bethany would outscore the Raiders 23-11, with an 13-3 run led by Lawrence Weldon, to end the half with a score of 36-20 in favor of the Bison.

Bethany's Leslie Addy started the second half with three straight three-pointers to put the Bison on-top of the Raiders 48-30. The largest lead of the game for the Bison would be 22 points with 13:00 minutes remaining, 52-35. The Purple Raiders would get as close as 13 points before Bethany would go on for the 79-61 victory. 

Mount Union was led by junior Nate Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) and sophomore Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) who each scored 12 points for the Raiders. 

Bethany was led by Delonte' Joyce who scored 17 points in the victory. Lawrence Weldon and Leslie Addy each chipped in 15 points. Joyce added 14 rebounds to lead the Bison. 

Mount Union next hosts Westminster (Pa.) in the season's home opener on Tuesday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
