Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio—Mount Union's women's volleyball team, ranked No. 11 in the nation, defeated Heidelberg 3-1 Saturday, November 2 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at Tiffin.
The Purple Raiders improve to 27-4 overall and 8-1 in the OAC and share the regular season title with Heidelberg (16-14, 8-1 OAC) while clinching the No. 1 seed in the OAC tournament.
In the 25-19, 19-25, 25-15, 25-23 four set match against the Berg, senior Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) led the way for the Raiders with 14 kills, four digs, and five block assists. Junior Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) had 11 kills and 13 digs. Junior Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) notched 26 digs in the win as junior Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) tallied 24 assists.
Mount Union junior Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) dished out 19 assists as junior Sara Brown (Willoughby/Willoughby South) recorded seven blocks on the afternoon.
Heidelberg was led offensively by Amber Welfle who had 12 kills. Grace Samenuk led the Berg defensively with 13 digs, and Alexa Frank chipped in with 21 assists in the loss.
No.1 Mount Union will host No. 8 Marietta (12-17, 2-7 OAC) Tuesday, November 5 at 7 pm for the first round of OAC tournament at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
