ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's basketball team defeated Adrian (Mich.) 68-49, Saturday, December 28 in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in the first night of the M-Club Classic.

The Purple Raiders improve to 7-2 overall, as they were led by sophomore Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia), who notched a team-high 11 points, and senior Jimmy Darnley (Canton/GlenOak) who scored 10 points.

The Bulldogs fall to 3-7 as they were led by Rickey Jackson who had 21 points. Dominique Stegall cleaned up the boards for Adrian as he recorded game-high 10 rebounds.

In the first half, the Raiders got on the board first before the game would see three ties, 2-2 (18:15), 8-8 (15:27) and again at 10-10 (12:47). Mount Union would close the half on a 22-11 run to go into the locker room up 32-21.

Mount Union put the game away as they reached their largest lead of 21 points, 68-47, before Adrian made the last basket as Mount Union went on for the 68-49 victory.

Mount Union returns to action tomorrow as they take on Olivet (Mich.) at 3:00 p.m. for the final game of the M-Club Classic in the MAAC in Alliance.
