HILTON HEAD, S.C. - - Mount Union's men's tennis team defeated Edgewood (Wis.) 8-1 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference tennis match in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
With the win, Mount Union has now won three straight matches and improves to 7-1 overall, while Edgewood falls to 1-14.
Sophomore Nick Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) picked up two victories on the afternoon as he defeated Eric Gavinski 6-0, 6-0 in the no. 2 singles match and was paired with his brother senior Nate Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) as they defeated Tim Morgan and Gavinski 8-4 in the no. 1 doubles match.
Sophomore Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and freshman Dominic Marino (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) both remained undefeated in singles matches this season as Swope recorded a win over Ben Pratscher 6-1, 6-0 in the no. 4 position and Marino recorded a victory over Michael Wanta 6-3, 6-1 in the no. 5 position.
Swope has a record of 7-0 in singles matches this season while Marino has a record of 6-0.
Mount Union returns to the court tomorrow when it faces Greenville (Ill.) at 9:00 a.m.
