ALLIANCE, Ohio - - Mount Union's men's tennis team defeated Marietta 8-1 in its final regular season Ohio Athletic Conference home match Tuesday afternoon in the Petersen Field House.
With the victory, Mount Union improves to 13-5 overall and 4-4 in the OAC while Marietta falls to 8-7 overall and 3-5 in league play.
Nick Fockler (North Canton/Hoover), Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Dominic Marino (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) all recorded their team-leading 14th singles victory of the season in the match.
Fockler defeated Alex Schaeffer 6-1, 7-5 in the no. 2 singles match, Swope defeated Karl Grant 6-2, 6-4 in the no. 5 singles match and Marino defeated Taimur Ahmed 6-3, 6-0 in the no. 6 singles match.
Malcolm Leake (Fremont/Fremont Ross) only conceded one point in his singles match as he defeated Teddy Daub 6-1, 6-0 in the no. 3 singles match.
Mount Union returns to action Saturday when it travels to Wilmington for its regular season finale at 1:00 p.m.
