WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania - - Mount Union's men's tennis team defeated Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) 9-0 in a non-conference tennis match Wednesday afternoon in Washington, Pennsylvania.
With the victory, Mount Union improves to 10-2 on the season, while Washington and Jefferson falls to 3-2.
Sophomore Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) remained undefeated and recorded his 11th singles victory of the season as he defeated Shihao Liang 6-1, 6-4 in the number four position.
Junior Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg) and freshman Dominic Marino (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) both remained undefeated in singles matches this season as they defeated Kevin Blakley 6-0, 6-0 in the number three position and Gadwin Stewart 6-0, 6-1 in the number five position respectively.
Senior Nate Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) and sophomore Nick Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) recorded their ninth doubles victory of the season as they defeated the pairing of Samuel Miller and Christopher Fadil 8-3 in the number one position.
Mount Union's next match is Saturday when they host Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Baldwin Wallace at 1:00 p.m.
