Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's volleyball team, ranked No. 9 in the nation, defeated Hanover (Ind.) and Bethany (W.Va.) in day two of the Purple Raider Classic on Saturday.
Senior Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) and junior Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) were selected to the All-Tournament team as the Purple Raiders finished the classic with a 4-0 record. Mount Union moves to a perfect 13-0 on the season.
In the 3-1 (25-19, 30-32, 25-16, 25-19) win over Hanover, the Raiders were led by junior Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) who tallied 12 kills and 11 digs as Webb notched 13 kills. Junior Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) recorded 26 assists as she had seven digs, with junior Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) adding 15 assists. Mastroine had a team-high 15 digs.
In Mount Union's 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-20) sweep over Bethany, freshman Allison Twining (Perrysburg/Findlay) had game-high 13 kills. Webb notched 10 kills, Schleich recorded 23 assists. Woodard added 17 assists as Mastroine chipped in 20 digs.
No. 9 Mount Union takes to the road next Friday as they travel to Marietta, Ohio to take on Washington and Lee at 7:30 p.m.
