Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's volleyball team, ranked No. 8 in the nation, defeated Marietta 3-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Friday in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders improve to 17-0 and 2-0 in the OAC as the Pioneers fall to 9-9 and 0-1 in the OAC.
In the 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-13) win over Marietta, Mount Union was led by senior Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) who had 12 kills and sophomore Kara Berger (Mentor/Mentor) who tallied nine. Junior's Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) and Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) notched 26 and 19 assists, respectively for the Raiders.
Schleich chipped in with 10 digs as junior Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) recorded a game-high 29 assists.
The Pioneers were led by Keri Horton who tallied team high nine kills and Laura Mauer who had 26 assists and 14 digs.
No. 8 Mount Union hosts a Quad-Match tomorrow, Saturday, September 28 at 1 p.m. as they take on Geneva (Pa.) before facing Bluffton at 3:30 p.m. Marietta takes on Bluffton at 1 p.m. before taking on Geneva at 3:30 p.m. in the MAAC.
