Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's basketball team fell to Ohio Northern, 60-45 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at the McPherson Academic & Athletic Complex in Alliance, Ohio.
Mount Union (7-6, 1-5 OAC) got a career and team-high nine points from senior Olivia Holt (Williamsfield/Pymatuning Valley).
Sara Kocian had 15 points and Jordan Kimes had 11 points and eight rebounds for Ohio Northern (10-3, 3-3 OAC).
The Raiders jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the game's first five minutes, but the Polar Bears would go on 10-1 run with 9:41 remaining in the half to take their first lead 14-13.
Mount Union then scored four straight points to go back up 19-14 at the 6:11 mark, before the Polar Bears went on a 9-2 run to take a 23-22 lead at halftime.
Ohio Northern started the second half on a 10-5 surge to open up a 33-27 advantage but Mount Union rallied scoring seven of the next eight points to close the gap to 37-34 with 11:35 left.
The Polar Bears then outscored Mount Union 13-6 over next 7:39 to lead 50-40 with 3:56 remaining in the game.
Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) then scored five straight points to bring the Raiders to within five -- 50-45 but Mount Union would not score again as Ohio Northern went on to the 15-point victory.
Mount Union travels to Marietta for an OAC matchup at 7:30 PM next Wednesday, January 15 in Marietta.
