UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio— Mount Union's men's soccer team fell 5-3 at OAC front runner John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Tuesday night.

John Carroll, which had already clinched the OAC regular season title moved 15-3 overall and 8-0 in the OAC, jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the game's first 20 minutes.

Mount Union (7-10, 1-7 OAC) cut the lead in half when sophomore Kevin Blackley (Aurora/Aurora) placed a ball in the back of the net off a pass from senior Colin Combs (Pickerington/Pickerington North).

The Blue Streaks extended the lead to 3-1 before freshman Jesse Tinney (Heidelberg/Chartiers Valley) brought the Purple Raiders back to within a goal with a score in the 34th minute.

Another John Carroll goal, 1:35 later gave the Blue Streaks a 4-2 lead at the break.

John Carroll made it 5-3 as Brain Potocnik scored his second goal of the game at the 55:25 mark.

Two minutes later, senior Jack Weber (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) kept the Raiders alive when he crossed a ball that was misjudged by the John Carroll goalie as the ball made its way to the upper 90 making the score 5-3.

A scoreless final 30 minutes of the game would lead to the eventual 5-3 final with John Carroll outshooting Mount Union 31-5.

The loss eliminates Mount Union from postseason play at the Raiders finish the season hosting Otterbein Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
