ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union women's basketball team suffered an Ohio Athletic Conference loss to Otterbein, 71-70, in the last seconds of the game Saturday in Alliance.

Junior Sarah Grippi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) led the Purple Raiders (3-4, 1-2 OAC) offense with 15 points while senior Chandler Moore (Girard, Pa./Girard) added 13 and led the team with seven rebounds and six assists.

For Otterbein (3-5, 1-2 OAC), senior Chelsea Reed earned a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists while freshman Abby Miduri scored a game-high 17 points.

Mount Union got on the board first with back-to-back layups by Grippi and the Raiders led for 10 of the first 11 minutes of the game.

The Cardinals gained the lead on an 18-4 run over the next six and a half minutes to go up 11 points, 21-32, with Reed scoring six of the 18.

The Raiders cut the lead in half after a 7-2 run including a pair of three-pointers from Moore and Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) heading into the break, down 34-28.

Otterbein started the second half with a three by Reed before Mount Union closed the gap with a 15-8 run sparked by Nancy Osborne (North Canton/GlenOak) who hit a three followed by a layup to tie the game at 47-47.

The Cardinals held the lead until a Moore three gave the Raiders the two point lead at the 4:07 mark of the second half.

Mount Union led by three with less than a minute left in regulation before a last second Otterbein layup gave the Cardinals the 71-70 victory.

Mount Union looks to bounce back with a quick turn-around as they take on Kalamazoo tomorrow, Dec. 14 at 2 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
