ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union women's basketball team defeated Kalamazoo (Mich.), 72-67, Sunday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

Junior Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Purple Raiders (4-4) followed by senior Nancy Osborne (North Canton/GlenOak) who added a season-high 15 points.

 Emily Lindsay led Kalamazoo (4-4) with 12 points while Grace Smith, Querubin Dubois and Kelsey Adamski added 11 and 10 points each.

Mount Union opened the game on a 13-2 run sparked by an Osborne three and back-to-back three's by Bova.

The Hornets would answer with an 11-1 run of their own cutting the game to within two points –15-13—with ten minutes remaining in the first half.

The Raiders again went on a 14-5 run extending the lead to ten –32-22—before entering the locker room with a seven point lead over the Hornets, 42-35.

To open the second half, Kalamazoo chipped away at the Raider lead with a 16-7 run tying the game, 51-51, at the 12:19 mark.

The Purple Raiders regained a six point lead at the 8:30 mark after freshman Paiten Strother (Glenmont/West Holmes) hit her third three pointer of the game.

With 12 seconds remaining in the game the Raiders held the three point lead –70-67—forcing Kalamazoo to foul leading to the eventual 72-67 Mount Union victory.

Mount Union next travels to Defiance Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6 pm.
