Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Mount Union's women's basketball team fell, 70-50 at Capital in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Columbus.
The Purple Raiders had two players in double figures as Annie Bova (Parma Heights / Beaumont) led the charge with 16 points while Sarah Grippi (Venetia, PA / Peter's Township) added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Capital (12-6, 9-3 OAC) was led by Jamie Caton who had a game-high 17 points.
Mount Union scored three of the game's first four points, but Capital tied the game at 7-7 before a 23-3 run to take a 30-10 lead with just over three minutes left in the half.
The Crusaders went into the half with an 18-point lead, 34-16.
The Raiders rallied in the second half to cut the deficit to 12 points, 54-42, after a 10-0 was capped off with an Alexis Parsons steal and layup with 7:29 left in the game.
The Crusaders recovered and posted a decisive 11-3 run to bump the lead back to 20 points, 65-45 with 3:11 to play and went on to the 20-point win.
Mount Union (9-9, 3-8 OAC) hosts Baldwin Wallace next Wednesday February 5th at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
