ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's basketball set an Ohio Athletic Conference record with 23 made three-pointers in a 113-77 rout of Muskingum Wednesday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Senior point guard T.J. Gillespie (Toledo/Toledo St. John's) hit four three-pointers as part of a game-high 17 point performance to pace the Purple Raiders.

Freshman DeAllen Jackson (Akron/Hoban) came off the bench for a career-best 16 points while sophomore Kyle Scelza (Stow/Stow) hit 4-of-4 three pointers off the bench and scored 14 points as the other double figure scorers for Mount Union.

The Raiders (19-3, 14-1 OAC) have now won seven straight and 17 of their last 18 games.  With Marietta's 75-55 loss at Capital, Mount Union now holds a two-game lead in the conference standings and can clinch at least a share of conference title with a win Saturday at 3 pm against Ohio Northern.

Mitchell Stephens had 14 points to lead Muskingum (7-15, 2-13 OAC).

Mount Union never trailed as its first five made shots from the field were all three-pointers as the Raiders ran out to a 15-8 lead in the game's first five minutes.  Mount Union hit five more three-pointers outscoring Muskingum, 31-12 over the next nine minutes to take a 48-20 with six minutes left in the half.  The Raiders finished the first half making 14 three-pointers and led 65-30 at the break.

Mount Union hit nine more from beyond the arc in the second half to break a conference record 21 that Muskingum made against Heidelberg in 2005.
