ALLIANCE, Ohio – Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half as Mount Union scored a 104-98 road win at Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday in Berea.

The Purple Raiders (16-3, 11-1 OAC) remain alone in first place in the OAC and have won 14 of their last 15 games.

Ruffin also had a team-best seven rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots as the Raiders held off a Baldwin Wallace (10-10, 6-7 OAC) squad that made a school-record 18 three-pointers – with a school-record nine of those from Kevin Krakowiak. Krakowiak finished with a game-high and career-best 36 points for the Jackets.

Aside from Ruffin, Mount Union had five other players in double figures.

T.J. Gillespie (Toldeo/Toledo St. John's) had 20 points, Nate Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) and Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) each had 11 while a pair of freshmen each scored season-highs off the bench as Miles Griffin (Canton/Massillon Jackson) had 15 and DeAllen Jackson (Akron/Hoban) had 13 points.

Mount Union scored eight of the game's first 10 points to lead 8-2 before three straight three-pointers from Krakowiak erased the deficit. BW would built a six-point lead 22-16 before the Raiders went on a 23-5 to take their largest lead of the game, 39-27 with 4:20 left in the period. Mount Union would take a 49-28 lead into the half.

BW opened the second half on an 11-2 run to cut the Raiders' lead to two points, 51-49 with 16:47 left. The Jackets would tie the game at 53 before Dillon scored five straight points and Raiders held on the rest of the way for the six-point win.

Mount Union stays on the road playing an OAC game Saturday at 7:30 pm at Otterbein.
