HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Mount Union men's tennis team was able to hold off Adrian (Mich.) 5-4 Tuesday in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Purple Raiders extend their overall record to a perfect 5-0, while Adrian falls to 5-3 on the season.
The Bulldogs took two sets in singles action, while the Raiders claimed the remaining four. Rob DeMarco (North Canton/Hoover) defeated Joey Loselle 6-2, 5-7, 10-3 in the number two spot, and Jeff Williams (Cleveland Heights/St. Edward) defeated Ryan Delacy in the four spot 6-2, 6-0.
Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg) clinched the victory for the Raiders when he defeated Alex Amos in the fifth singles match 6-3, 6-2.
The Bulldogs took two in doubles action, as the duo of Yackmack and Chase Krammel defeated Delacy and Amos 8-5.
The Raiders return to the court tomorrow when they play against Roanoke (Va.) at 3:00 p.m. in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
