PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The No. 5 ranked Mount Union volleyball team finished off the weekend with a pair of 3-0 sweeps of Buffalo State (N.Y.) and Pitt-Greensburg at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Purple Raiders went 3-1 on the weekend and now stand at 13-1 overall on the season.
Against Buffalo State (7-5), Mount Union scored sets wins of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-14. Senior Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) and freshman Morgan Chapman (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) each had a team-best seven kills while senior Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) had 17 assists to pace the offense. Senior Lauren Mastrione (Orrville/Orrville) had 20 digs and freshman Jessie Drew (Huntington, Ind./Huntington North) had four block assists on lead the defense.
Mount Union beat up Pitt-Greensburg (1-15) with set scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-7. Mastrione had six digs while Drew and Champman each had a pair of block assists on defense while junior Kara Berger (Mentor/Mentor) had six kills and senior Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) had 14 assists to lead the attack.
The Raiders take on Geneva (Pa.) in a non-conference matchup Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 pm in Beaver Falls, Pa.
