ALLIANCE, Ohio— Mount Union's women's basketball team snapped a four-game skid with an 84-72 victory over Muskingum Wednesday.

The Purple Raiders (6-8, 2-5 OAC) were led by four players scoring in double figures. Junior Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) tied for a game-high 21 points followed by a career-high 18 points for senior Nancy Osborne. Junior Sarah Grippi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) added 12 points followed by senior Chandler Moore (Girard, Pa./Girard) scoring 10.

Muskingum (3-11, 1-6 OAC) was led by Taylor Maurer tying a game-high 21 points with seven three pointers. Jasmine Goings and Olivia Besancon each added 11 points.

Muskingum opened the game with a five point lead at the 12:35 mark fueled by Jasmine Goings scoring five of the Muskies' eight points to take an 8-5 lead.

The Raiders trailed again by five at the 7:28 mark before a train of three pointers would lead to Mount Union's first lead of the game. Moore hit the first three followed by Osborne then three back-to-back-to-back three pointers for Bova giving the Raiders a four point lead—37-33- with a minute remaining in the half.

Two late fouls sent Muskingum to the line for five free throws giving them a one point lead—38-37—heading into the locker room.

Muskingum held a three point lead at the 16:36 mark—44-41.

A layup for freshman Isabella Pecchia (North Ridgeville/North Ridgeville) followed by another Bova three gave the Raiders a five point lead—49-44.

Five straight points for Grippi moved the Raiders to a nine point advantage at the 13:56 mark.

Mount Union held a 14 point lead, its largest lead of the game—61-47—before Muskingum went on an 8-1 run to cut the lead in half.

The Muskies added a 9-0 run to come within one of the Raiders with three  minutes remaining in the game .

Mount Union ended the game on a 13-2 run earning an 84-72 victory over Muskingum.

Mount Union travels to University Heights to take on John Carroll Saturday, Jan. 17 at 3:00 pm.
