UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—Mount Union's women's basketball team lost 70-60 in an Ohio Athletic Conference Saturday at John Carroll.

The Purple Raiders (6-9, 2-6 OAC) were led by Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) scoring 19 points and Chandler Moore (Girard, Pa./Girard) grabbing five boards.

John Carroll (14-1, 7-1 OAC) had two players scoring double figures with Shmoo Pryer scoring 21 points and Katlyn Spahar scoring 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Mount Union opened the game with a three pointer from Nancy Osborne (North Canton/GlenOak) followed by a three from Bova to give the Raiders a four point lead—6-2.

The Blue Streaks went on a 7-0 run to go up three at the 17:19 mark.

Mount Union trailed by one before a Moore three pointer gave the Raiders the lead—19-17--at the 11:07 mark of the first half.

Six straight points for Pryor moved JCU into the lead on a 12-2 run with six minutes remaining.

Back-to-back shots from behind the arc for Bova and Moore tied the game—29-29—at the 5:03 mark.

In a half that saw five ties and eight lead changes, Mount Union trailed by one—35-34—going into the locker room.

John Carroll opened the half on a 21-10 run to take a nine point lead—53-44—at the 11:12 mark.

Five straight points for Bova cut the lead in half giving John Carroll just a four point lead with under 10 minutes left in the game.

JCU went on an 8-2 run to gain a 10 point lead—61-51—with five minutes left in the game fueled by Spahars four points.

The Blue Streaks would go on to defeat the Raiders 70-60.

Mount Union hosts Marietta in an OAC game Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
