ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's men's basketball team defeated Baldwin Wallace 83-72 in Ohio Athletic Conference action Wednesday night in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders (13-5, 9-2 OAC) were led by DeAllen Jackson (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) with 21 points. Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) and Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) were also in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Kyle Scelza (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and JJ Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) just missed double figures with nine points each while Stevie Griffin (Canton/Massillon Jackson) contributed with six points, six assists and nine rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets (13-5, 7-4 OAC) were led by Cameron Kuhn with 23 points. Justin Roth added 18 points on 6-of-25 shooting.

Baldwin Wallace opened the game with a 19-8 advantage, taking an 11 point lead in the first eight minutes of the game. They led by 11 again, 21-10 with 10:00 left in the half before Mount Union caught fire. The Raiders made 12 of their next 15 shots, including seven three-pointers, to take a 15 point lead with 2:19 before the half. Mount Union went on to lead 45-32 at the break.

Mount Union's lead was cut to nine points, 58-49 with 10:09 remaining, before a 9-3 Raider run took the lead back to 15 points. Baldwin Wallace brought the game to within six points with 1:21 left in regulation but the Raiders shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line the rest of the way and capped the game with a Ruffin dunk.

With the win, Mount Union remains in second place in the OAC and travels to Capital for its next game on Saturday, January 31 at 2:00 pm.
