ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team defeated Waynesburg 87-57 to go on and win the M Club Classic.

Annie Bova (Parma Hts./Beaumont) was named MVP of the M Club Classic. Fellow teammates Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) and Bella Pecchia (North Ridgeville/North Ridgeville) were also named to the all-tournament team.

Reed led the Purple Raiders (3-0) with a tied career high of 22 points. She also contributed four total rebounds and two assists. Bova scored 14 points with 3 total rebounds and four assists while Pecchia was right behind her with 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Waynesburg got 21 points and four rebounds from Heather Davis in the loss.

Mount Union started off strong with having five three-pointers led by Reed having two which gave the Raiders a lead of 28-14.

The second quarter wasn't much different with Reed coming out with a three pointer assisted by Bova making the lead 31-16. Mount Union didn't trail once in the first or second quarter with their biggest lead being 19 points. The Raiders would lead by 14 at the half, 43-29.

Waynesburg couldn't keep up with the Raiders offense coming out of half-time with ending the third quarter leading by 29 points.

The fourth quarter was much of the same while the Raiders didn't let Waynesburg within 20 points. In the entire game there were only two lead changes and two ties with the Raiders leading most of the game.

Mount Union will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on LaRoche (Pa.) at 7 pm Tuesday, Nov. 24.
