TIFFIN, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team snapped a five-game skid with a 70-61 victory over Heidelberg on Saturday.

The Purple Raiders (8-14, 5-11 OAC) had two players scoring in double-figures with Chandler Moore (Girard, Pa./Girard) scoring 17 points while shooting 70% from the floor. Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) added 15 points shooting three for six from behind the arc.

Heidelberg (9-14, 7-9 OAC) had two players scoring in double-figures with Carli Patrick scoring a game-high 27 points and earning a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds. Allie Hawkins added 10 points for the Student Princes.

Mount Union opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers for Bova and Moore.

Hawkins also had back-to-back three-pointers for Heidleberg to tie the game, 8-8, at the 17:44 mark.

The first half saw seven ties and eight different lead changes until the Raiders closed out the first half on a 13-7 run sparked by Abbey Bartoszewicz (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian Academy) who knocked down a three-pointer at the 5:03 mark as Mount Union headed to the locker room with a 40-34 advantage.

Mount Union gained their largest lead of the game—63-49-- at the 7:45 mark of the second half with a 10-4 run capped off by a three for Nancy Osborne (North Canton/GlenOak).

Heidelberg threatened the lead with 2:10 remaining in the game with a 9-2 run but was not enough to overcome the Raiders who went on the win the game 70-61.

Mount Union returns home to take on John Carroll Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 pm in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
