ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's men's basketball team rolled to an 85-67 win over Muskingum Wednesday night in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

Mount Union (15-5, 11-2 OAC) was led by senior guard Nate Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) with 19 points and eight rebounds. Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) added 15 points while Stevie Griffin (Canton/Massillon Jackson) chipped in 14 points.

Muskingum (6-14, 3-10 OAC) was led by Logan Kimble with 17 points and Joshua Keyes with 12 points and six rebounds.

Muskingum started the game by scoring the first seven points in the first 2:14 of the game. The Raiders answered with an 11-4 run to tie the game at 11 apiece with 12:20 left in the first half. Ruffin hit a pair of free throws to give Mount Union the lead and the Raiders led the rest of the game.

Mount Union got back-to-back three-pointers from Kyle Scelza (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Jacubec just before halftime and led by nine, 33-24, going into the half.

Another Scelza three, another Jacubec three and a Ruffin dunk sparked an 8-2 run to open the second half and ballooned the lead to 15 points. A three-pointer by Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) gave the Raiders a 72-48 lead, their largest of the game, with 7:18 to play in the game.

The Muskies cut the lead to 18 points with a 5-0 in the final minutes of the game but Mount Union ran out the clock and earned the 85-67 victory.

The men's basketball team is next in action on Saturday, February 7 as they travel to Ada, Ohio to take on Ohio Northern at 3:00 pm.
