NEW CONCORD, Ohio— The Mount Union women's basketball team dropped a 63-48 Ohio Athletic Conference game to Muskingum Wednesday night.

The Purple Raiders (8-12, 4-9 OAC) were led by junior Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) as the only player in double digits with 11 points while fellow junior Abby Wemhoff (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) grabbed eight rebounds on the night.

Muskingum (6-14, 4-9 OAC) was paced by three players in double-figures with Jasmine Goings and Taylor Maurer each scoring 12 and Mallory Taylor adding 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Muskies gained an early advantage in the game with an 18-5 run 10 minutes into the game.

Mount Union battled back with an 11-3 run fueled by two three-pointers for Reed putting the Raiders down five—21-16—with five minutes remaining in the half.

Muskingum ended the half on a 14-7 run taking the 35-23 lead into the locker room.

The Muskies continued the run into the second half with a 9-4 run at the 6:34 mark extending the lead to 18—54-36.

Muskingum went on to earn the 63-48 victory over the Raiders.

Mount Union looks to bounce back as they host Ohio Northern Saturday, Feb. 7 in a Play 4 Kay game at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
